Yes, you heard that right. Under the student visa (subclass 500) you are allowed to work 40 hours per fortnight. Australia is a great place to work while you are studying. There are many industries offering flexible hours and a number of opportunities for students, including supermarkets, department stores, cafes, bars, restaurants, delivery, etc. Earn some extra money while you get a taste of the local culture. Most Importantly, you can work fulltime if you on your study break or semester holidays.

Congratulations on completing your degree! It is time to move on to the next step, which is applying for a Temporary Graduate Visa (SC 485). Under this visa you are allowed to live and work full-time in Australia for 2 – 5 years, depending on your course, and location of study. As a Temporary Graduate Visa holder, you have full work & study right.  Don’t forget to make yourself eligible for a Permanent Residency visa under the General Skilled Migration program for subclasses 189, 190, and 491, if you settle in Australia. Moreover, if you become a skilled migrant, you can also seek sponsorship from a potential employer under subclasses 186, 187, and 482. So, what are you waiting for?
